My Home Page for Inquiry 2009
Submitted by Judith Lucas-Odom on Mon, 07/20/2009 - 10:20amHi! I teach science 7-9 and I enjoy these institutes! I teach inclusion with developmental challenges from emotional support to learning support in Chester-Upland School District. I am looking for cool ideas to challenge and engage my students using multi-intelligences!
Some of the most pressing issues I have for my class is to get them to think outside of the box! Trying to motivate them to use their strengths in the classroom and become more positive; to bury the past and look for a brighter future!

Brain and Behavior Summer Fun Next Year's Learning
Submitted by Judith Lucas-Odom on Thu, 07/17/2008 - 3:14pmWhat I plan to do next school year!
I plan to use the creative ideas of my cognitive unconscious and my I -function combined to help my students become more creative, while having fun in their learning adventure. I plan to use "Scratch" for an introduction to a unit on Ecology along with the interactive games. Eventually, I would like my students to create a comic book of "Scratch in the Environment."

Making Sense of Our Place
Submitted by Judith Lucas-Odom on Mon, 07/30/2007 - 3:23pmTrying to get students to understand that their world goes beyond their own world is relevant when you teach science! This is an attempt to create a story that will interest your students as well as educate them about the the bigger picture! Our story begins....
Understanding what is science and how it is related to our world is a concept that is difficult for students to understand We will take a short tour through it to try and make sense out of it. First stop on our way is called Googleville. In this peculiar place, we will use the help of Google earth and Neo. http://neo.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/Search.html

This is an excellent site for teachers, students, and parents to use for creative labs in the ecology/biology classroom! There are free items that you can use for your students grades K-12.
