My initial expectations for what I'd get out of this institute were
admittedly not very high. I couldn't see how this subject matter
could help me. Yet, as the days glided by, I would find "hooks"
that grabbed my attention and caused me to look for ways to incorporate
this knowledge into my teaching. I've not found very many
concrete changes I can make -- as yet. I will need to mull over
the content we covered and see where I can get it to fit. More
than in specific activities for the students, tho, I think that most of the changes will be in how I present material and react to the students answers and behavior.
During
August I will have the time to do some of this, esp. since I want to
prepare a lesson (or set thereof) so that I can make use of the
available grant money . . . if we submit plans by September 1.
