ABANDONMENT

I chant the night
Discarded
Deserted
Given-up gamin

Recurrent dream
Nightmare of disengagement
Desolation
Keening

Why this recurrent terror
This contrivance of torment
Heart palpitations of fright
Bassbeat a blow
Hyperbreath of pulsating strings
Swirls of flight in counterpoint

Dulcet mutedness
Denouement of exhaustion
A melancholy beyond hope
Abandoned
You've withdrawn

I sit the settee
Exposed youth
Keepsake of a journey
Without beginning or end
Conundrum of genesis

I croon the day
Listless
Disheartened cavity of gloom
Marooned
Mocking my child

Countervailing facets
Actualities
Dribble drowsily
Dwindling alarm

I choir
Cherished
Sustained
Celebrated
Retained
You remain

I prepare for night.
